The Wind of Change In Salarom Taka, Nabawan, Sabah

Congratulation to all SUEC participants & volunteers,

Two days before we start our outreach program in a new location, Salarom Taka, also in Nabawan, we had too little opportunity to reorganize the program since we had no picture at all about the community and it's surrounding situation. Everyone was totally out of idea due to lack of information. But somehow, when we heard the convincing voice from Mr Anthony Amin, the Head Master of SK Salarom Taka (one of key person in Salarom Taka), we felt that there is still hope awaiting. Within 24 hours, we tried to reshuffle some activities to make it feasible to be carried out in the new location appropriately.

On the May 13th, after five hours traveling on the road from Kota Kinabalu, the SUEC chairman, Dr Khalid Johari, as usual, being the first who manage to find the place at 2.00pm, then followed by the groups of 18 participants and 23 volunteers after two hours later. Standing right infront of the long house of Salarom Taka, most of us were still uncertain on what would be happened. A little chat with the Head of the long house, Mr Mandaun, with his friendly voice and fluent Bahasa Melayu speaking, the uncertain hope upon the outreach program slowly vanished. Later, together with Mr Anthony Amin, Mr Jasmen Elahan, the program coordinator and his units had a brief meeting to rearrange some activities to make them more meaningful for Salarom Taka's community.

to be continued...

Latest Info About Our Outreach Program In Nabawan, Sabah

To all SUEC participants & volunteers,

Our outreach program which was scheduled to be carried out in Babalitan, Nabawan have been relocated to another interior area but still remain in Nabawan. This last minute changes made due to the latest situation in Babalitan and its surrounding area. There were three bridges along the road from Sepulut to Salong, are now "out of service", hacked by flooding river recently. Unfortumately, at the same time, our coordinator for the outreach program have been hospitalized for medical purpose.

As the initiator, we never retreat easily. Hence, for the safety of our participants and volunteers, we manage to divert the location of our outreach program to another interior area without reduce the challange to be faced of. The new location is Salarom. There might be 3-4 villages will be involved in the 13-16 Mei program.

Good luck and dedicate your effort to assist them in exploring opportunities for their bright future.
